Mainframe Engineer

Introduction:

The Mainframe Engineer will serve as the technical lead for the Mainframe Platform, overseeing operations, changes, and sustainability upgrade projects. They will act as the interface between Freddie Mac teams and Managed Service Supplier for issue resolution and change coordination, ensuring governance and oversight on contractual SLAs and key metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Mainframe Platform operations, including z/OS, Dell Storage, IMS, DB2, RACF, and CA JobTrac
• Interface with teams and suppliers for issue resolution and change coordination
• Ensure compliance with SLAs, key metrics, and contractual obligations
• Review, validate, and coordinate Mainframe infrastructure changes, executing risk management controls and audit support
• Act as a technical SME for Mainframe infrastructure subsystems and drive incident resolutions
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures
• Identify technical risks and make recommendations for system upgrades and enhancements
• Analyze and resolve system problems

Requirements:

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe infrastructure engineering
• Knowledge of z/OS architectures, internals, and zSecure tool
• Expertise in mainframe security, RACF, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, IMS, VSAM, XML, TSO/ISPF, and zconnect
• Ability to perform risk management, audit support, and compliance activities
• Experience in issue resolution, collaboration, and customization

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Dell Storage, JOBTRAC, IT Management, Internal Control, and Regulatory Compliance
• Experience in root cause analysis, management, and sustainability
• Proficiency in SQL, Storage, Risk Management, and XML
