Summary

Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Epic Consultant to support ambulatory clinical systems and partner with stakeholders across the organization in Des Moines, Iowa. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can translate operational needs into effective Epic solutions, identify patterns affecting users, and communicate confidently with both clinical teams and external vendors. The role blends daily issue analysis with project-driven configuration and optimization work, requiring strong knowledge of Epic Ambulatory workflows and electronic health record environments.

Responsibilities:
Review incoming support requests to identify recurring issues, assess their impact across user groups, and drive timely resolution when broader trends emerge.
Investigate root causes within Epic ambulatory workflows and determine whether issues stem from configuration, process gaps, or vendor-related defects.
Partner with external vendors by clearly documenting problems, reproducing system behavior, and coordinating remediation efforts through resolution.
Translate business and operational requirements into system configuration, design decisions, and enhancements within Epic Ambulatory and related clinical modules.
Contribute to project-based initiatives by evaluating plans, identifying potential risks, and supporting implementation activities for new members or business units.
Act in a business analysis capacity by gathering needs from internal stakeholders and external partners, then converting those needs into practical build specifications.
Develop supporting documentation, reference materials, and other resources to help communicate changes and promote effective adoption.
Build expertise in newly released functionality, including payer-related capabilities and native platform updates, to assess impact on current workflows and recommend next steps.

Requirements

5+ years of experience working with Epic or comparable EHR/EMR platforms in a clinical systems consulting or analyst capacity.
Strong background in Epic Ambulatory with the ability to understand and discuss clinical workflows using appropriate terminology.
Demonstrated experience translating business requirements into system builds, enhancements, and configuration changes.
Proven ability to analyze support tickets, recognize patterns, and escalate or resolve issues affecting multiple users or departments.
Hands-on experience investigating root causes and collaborating with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve application issues.
Familiarity with business requirement documentation, configuration management, and clinical application design practices.
Ability to learn new platform features quickly and evaluate how changes will interact with existing healthcare technology solutions.
