Job Details

Technical Project Manager (TPM) for a data product is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of data-focused projects. The TPM acts as a bridge between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring that data products meet business needs while adhering to timelines and budgets. This role requires a mix of technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines for data products.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, data scientists, business analysts) to ensure project milestones are met.
  2. Stakeholder Management:
    • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and expectations for data projects.
    • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues.
  3. Technical Leadership:
    • Collaborate with technical teams to define technical specifications and project requirements for data solutions.
    • Ensure that the technical teams are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Conduct regular risk assessment meetings and adjust project plans as necessary.
  5. Quality Assurance:
    • Oversee testing and validation processes to ensure data products meet quality standards and functional requirements.
    • Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) and gather feedback for improvements.
  6. Budget Management:
    • Monitor project budgets, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
    • Prepare financial reports and forecasts related to project expenditures.
  7. Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation regarding project plans, requirements, decisions, and changes.
    • Ensure that all project documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  8. Team Collaboration:
    • Foster a collaborative environment among team members, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing.
    • Mentor and guide junior team members in project management and data-related tasks.
  9. Continuous Improvement:
    • Analyze project outcomes and processes to identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement best practices and lessons learned into future projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in data-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of data management, analytics, and data engineering concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and frameworks.
