Job : Monitoring Consultant

Location

• Must reside within 2 hours of Harrisburg, PA

• Hybrid Schedule At least 1 day per week onsite

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) on enterprise monitoring tools and processes

• Responsible for automation-first monitoring strategies

• Support hybrid environments (On-Prem + Cloud)

• Improve operational efficiency, incident response, and service quality

• Align monitoring practices with ITIL and Commonwealth IT policies

Responsibilities

Monitoring & Automation

• Improve monitoring processes and implement automation-first practices

• Maintain endpoint monitoring connectivity (Agents, SNMP, WMI, APIs)

• Manage telemetry ingestion, certificates, and credentials

• Implement Azure Automation and CI/CD pipelines

• Evaluate and implement monitoring solutions for cloud & on-prem systems

Incident, Change & Problem Management

• Document incidents with observability data in ServiceNow

• Produce post-incident reviews and maintain Known Error Database

• Track SLAs, MTTR, and root cause analysis

• Collaborate with Enterprise Change & Incident teams

• Create and track Requests for Change (RFCs)

Reporting & Compliance

• Provide SLA reporting and operational metrics

• Ensure compliance with Commonwealth IT policies

• Align with ITIL 4 frameworks (Change, Incident, Problem Management)

• Participate in compliance audits

Documentation & Communication

• Maintain SOPs, runbooks, workflows, and service maps

• Implement structured communication workflows

• Provide stakeholder updates

• Maintain organized knowledge repositories

Disaster Recovery & Continuity

• Design and test Disaster Recovery (DR) plans

• Define RTO/RPO

• Support Continuity of Government (CoG) obligations

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field

Experience

• 5+ Years IT Infrastructure Monitoring & Observability

• Experience in Hybrid (On-Prem + Cloud) environments

Required Technical Skills

• PowerShell (Strong proficiency)

• Python / Bash / SQL (At least one additional scripting language)

• Azure Monitor

• Log Analytics

• Azure Automation

• CI/CD Pipelines

• Ansible

• KQL (Kusto Query Language)

• SQL

• Monitoring Platforms (SCOM, SquaredUp, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk)

• API Integration & Secure Authentication

• ServiceNow (ITSM Platform)

Required Process Knowledge

• ITIL 4 (Change, Incident, Problem Management)

• Root Cause Analysis

• SLA Tracking & Reporting

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
