Description: Our client is currently seeking a Cloud Security Architect
Location: Austin, TX
Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days remote with 2 days (Mondays and Thursdays) required to be onsite

Duration: 5-months with possibility of extension

Role Summary

The client requires an experienced Cloud Security Architect and Systems Analyst to lead the design and implementation of secure-by-default architectures across cloud-native, microservices, and AI-enabled systems. The professional in this role will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performing a variety of complex tasks with a high degree of creativity and latitude. All work products resulting from this project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the exclusive property of the hiring agency. Potential candidates must submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by applicable state law.

Key Responsibilities

Understand business objectives and problems to identify alternative solutions while performing thorough cost and benefit analyses.

Analyze user requirements, operational procedures, and existing computer systems to automate processing or improve functionality.

Confer with organizational personnel to analyze operational procedures, identify problems, and document specific data input and output requirements.

Write detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.

Review system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program changes are feasible.

Lead the design and implementation of secure architectures across cloud-native environments, microservices, and AI-enabled systems.

Ensure strict compliance with state and federal security frameworks while enabling system modernization and transformation initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

8 years of experience in information security and systems architecture.

8 years of proven experience designing secure cloud-native architectures, with a strong preference for AWS.

8 years of in-depth knowledge of NIST 800-53 and standard state or regional cybersecurity frameworks.

8 years of expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Zero Trust Architecture.

8 years of experience performing threat modeling for complex technical systems.

8 years of experience securing microservices, APIs, and containerized environments.

8 years of experience configuring cloud security posture management (CSPM) tools.

8 years of experience integrating security protocols directly into DevSecOps pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

4 years of familiarity with securing AI and LLM-based systems alongside data pipelines.

4 years of experience implementing data protection strategies for PII, PHI, and other sensitive data.

4 years of experience presenting security risk assessments directly to executive leadership.

4 years of demonstrated ability to draft enterprise security policies and technical architecture standards.

2 years holding relevant industry certifications, including CISSP, CISM, or AWS Certified Security Engineer.
