About the Role

We are seeking an Application Developer to join our development team and support the design, creation, and maintenance of applications that serve our agency and its customers. In this role, you will collaborate with fellow developers and IT professionals to build secure, efficient, and reliable software solutions.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an Agile environment, enjoys problem-solving with limited oversight, and communicates effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Top Required Skills

1. Software & Application Development

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with one or more of the following:
    • Python
    • PHP
    • Ruby on Rails
    • Django
    • JavaScript
    • HTML5 / CSS
  • Experience with GNU/Linux environments

2. Agile & DevOps Experience

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency with Git and version control best practices
  • Experience developing within an MVC framework
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Comfort participating in code reviews

3. Cloud & Database Experience

  • Experience with cloud or IaaS platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with modern DBMS technologies:
    • MySQL
    • PostgreSQL
    • MS SQL

Work Arrangement

  • Must be able to work on-site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop software and applications aligned with business and customer needs
  • Research, design, and implement new systems and application features
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, debugging, and support for internal applications
  • Support application security through adherence to development best practices
  • Collaborate with IT staff to improve workflows, documentation, and processes
  • Perform software testing and contribute to quality assurance
  • Assist product owners and project managers with requirements, user stories, and design
  • Support other IT initiatives and projects as assigned
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience using Git
  • Proven ability to convert user stories into working software
  • Experience developing in an MVC framework
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Python, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Django, JavaScript, HTML5, or CSS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with GNU/Linux
  • Experience with MySQL, Postgres, or MS SQL

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
