Role Overview
We are seeking a Network Administrator to support a federal program. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, designing, and maintaining moderately complex network systems to ensure optimal performance. This role requires an independent worker who can perform effectively as the sole network administrator on-site, collaborating with a broader team located elsewhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate networks to identify and resolve performance obstacles.
- Conduct site surveys to inform network configuration recommendations.
- Research and evaluate network technologies and COTS products to keep networks current.
- Design, plan, and recommend resources for moderately complex network systems.
- Create clear network architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
- Resolve moderately complex network problems and manage project deliverables.
- Plan, implement, and support changes to network infrastructure, including cabling, firmware, and hardware.
- Maintain network systems, equipment, and firewall appliances and rules.
Required Qualifications
Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance as a condition or continuation of employment.
Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience is required.
Certifications: A relevant industry certification, such as CompTIA Network+, or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).
Technical Skills:- Experience configuring and managing products from major networking equipment and firewall vendors.
- Expertise in the maintenance of Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices and policies.
- Experience with automated methods to deploy and maintain switches and firewalls.
- Demonstrated ability to function as an independent worker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Netgear, Watchguard, and Arista product lines.
- Experience with Cloud technologies and interconnecting systems into the cloud.
- Expertise with Network device QoS policies.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Taclane devices.
- Ability to produce detailed documentation and procedures.
- Experience with analysis of network traffic and equipment performance.
Compensation
The anticipated hourly pay rate for this position is $40.00 to $70.00.
