Senior Cyber Security Engineer

Description:
Seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our team.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist in vulnerability scanning and remediation efforts for identified security concerns
Evaluate proposed changes or additions to information systems/applications, analyzing potential effects and side effects in advance
Implement and maintain security-related software to detect malicious code, viruses, and intruders (hackers)
Work with the information System Owners, and various client stakeholders to ensure annual security assessments are completed on time
Periodically verify security features and operating controls are functional and effective
Ensure information systems and applications are compliant as mandated by appropriate Federal, Department, and Agency Regulations and Policies
Advise information System Owners and client contacts on security matters for various applications
Perform Fortify scans for each proposed non-MUMPS build and enter critical deficiencies into Rational as test defects for developer remediation and retesting.
Perform Risk Assessments for each build using RiskVision.Review software application and/or eMASS requirements to assure that the applicable security requirements are identified, and the scope and complexity of the requirements are estimated and prioritized into the backlog as applicable.
Evaluate software products developed to determine if they are compliant with security standards.Complete, submit and coordinate successful Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) for each product and/or build.
Create, modify, and post all required security artifacts.
Create and manage VA applications and the implementation and maintenance each system's Authority to Operate (ATO), including all VA required security documents and processes.
Required Skills:
Experience in IT system auditing, security controls assessment, system documentation, system and application vulnerability scanning and assessment
Possess technical knowledge and expertise needed to manage all security aspects of information systems/applications daily
Experience with government compliance, including FISMA, and FedRAMP
Knowledge and hands-on experience with IT architecture and design (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networking, virus protection technologies, LAN/WAN design, and/or general internetworking technologies)
Experience with monitoring security controls supporting comprehensive compliance programs and an understanding of cloud computing services and deployment architecture
Ability to clearly articulate technical requirements and other information in written documentation
Work with minimal supervision, set priorities, and while maintaining attention to detail and quality
Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills: able to multi-task, work individually in a team.Must be able to handle stress in a professional manner
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

Prior experience supporting the IT infrastructure and application operations of the VA Financial Services Center
Excellent verbal communication skills
Outstanding written skills for preparing reports and briefing
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in one of the following disciplines: computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline.
10 year of relevant experience OR 20 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
VA IT programs experience
