OpCon Workload Automation Administrator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced OpCon Workload Automation Administrator with 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, configuring, scheduling, and supporting mission-critical batch workflows across legacy, distributed, and cloud-hosted environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in OpCon Workload Automation, batch job scheduling, job dependencies, Unix shell scripting, production monitoring, incident management, and AWS cloud environments. This role requires the ability to work rotational shifts, including nights, and provide reliable production support for critical batch processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, manage, and support 200+ production batch jobs using OpCon Workload Automation.
• Create and maintain batch schedules, job dependencies, workflows, calendars, and execution sequences.
• Oversee development and configuration activities within the OpCon scheduling platform.
• Organize jobs into efficient and manageable schedules to support smooth batch execution.
• Performance-tune batch jobs and workflows for reliable and efficient processing.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain OpCon Workload Automation and manage product versioning.
• Import/export job configurations between development, test, and production environments.
• Work with the OpCon product vendor to troubleshoot product issues, patches, upgrades, and technical problems.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux shell scripts used within OpCon batch jobs.
• Monitor mission-critical batch cycles and troubleshoot job failures, delays, dependencies, and abnormal terminations.
• Configure batch execution dashboards, alerts, notifications, and monitoring based on job status and exit codes.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and functional teams to resolve batch failures and production issues.
• Assist development teams with batch framework debugging, root-cause analysis (RCA), and resolution.
• Create batch enhancement/change request documentation and provide effort estimates.
• Manage OpCon user accounts, roles, permissions, and security settings.
• Perform system administration activities including shell scripting, process monitoring, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Write and troubleshoot simple to complex SQL queries for operational and production support.
• Support AWS PostgreSQL RDS and other AWS cloud resources related to batch processing.
• Work with Azure DevOps to log and track batch incidents, escalate issues, document resolutions, and maintain knowledge-base articles.
• Create and maintain Splunk indexes for SFTP-related projects to improve monitoring and visibility of batch cycles through web-based dashboards.
• Prepare and distribute daily batch execution status reports to clients and project stakeholders.
• Support rotational production operations, including night shifts and after-hours batch monitoring.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in workload automation, batch operations, scheduling, or production support.
• Extensive hands-on experience with OpCon Workload Automation.
• Strong experience designing, configuring, scheduling, and managing complex batch workflows.
• Experience managing batch job interdependencies and mission-critical production cycles.
• Hands-on experience supporting batch environments across legacy, distributed, and cloud-hosted applications.
• Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and versioning OpCon.
• Experience importing/exporting OpCon job configurations across environments.
• Strong Unix/Linux shell scripting experience.
• Experience troubleshooting batch failures, job dependencies, exit codes, and production issues.
• Experience configuring batch monitoring dashboards, alerts, and notifications.
• Strong production support and incident management experience.
• Experience working with Azure DevOps for incident tracking, escalation, and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS PostgreSQL RDS and AWS cloud resources.
• Strong SQL skills, including writing simple to complex queries.
• Experience with Splunk monitoring and indexing is preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with application, infrastructure, and business teams.
• Willingness and ability to work rotational shifts, including night shifts, is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting high-volume enterprise batch environments.
• Experience with SFTP-based batch processing and monitoring.
• Experience with Splunk dashboards, indexes, and operational monitoring.
• Experience with change management, RCA, and production incident processes.
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted application environments and AWS services.
• Experience working directly with workload automation product vendors.
