Job Description

Our client's Enterprise Tools team is looking for a motivated and experienced Platform Engineer to join them on a contract basis. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of world-class platform engineering solutions that directly support internal development teams. Day-to-day, you can expect to work on container infrastructure, cloud-native deployments, and automation initiatives that improve development workflows across the organization.
You will collaborate closely with team members to design, implement, and optimize containerization strategies using AWS-based services. Your work will have a direct impact on the efficiency and reliability of engineering operations, helping developers ship faster and with greater confidence. This role exists to address growing demand for robust enterprise tooling and self-service capabilities within a large, distributed engineering organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Build reports to detail container configurations, deployments, and usage in AWS.
Work with team members to implement technology solutions that enhance container development.
Automate the building and updating of container images using industry best practices.
Contribute to ongoing technology improvements and participate in technical decision-making.
Implement and maintain self-service capabilities and automation solutions for development teams.
Execute process improvements and automation initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and expertise on containerization best practices.
Inform relevant internal teams with findings and technical recommendations as needed.

Required Experience & Skills

Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native platforms and services using AWS or other major cloud providers.
Hands-on experience working with GitHub, including generating reports via the GitHub API, managing pull requests, and building automation workflows.
Hands-on experience building, testing, and deploying container images.
Strong proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or Groovy for automation.
Strong working knowledge of AWS services to deploy and monitor containerized applications running on Kubernetes, ECS, and EC2 instances.
Strong working knowledge of certificates, keystores, and networking to establish secure communications between systems.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice-to-Haves

Personal interest in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform engineering.
Experience working in a large enterprise or technology-driven organization.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
