Arconic is seeking a Process Engineer to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

Position Summary

The Process / Quality Engineer is responsible for driving process improvements, product quality, and manufacturing excellence within the Extrusions Small Press department. This position supports production operations by improving process capability, reducing variation, enhancing product performance, and ensuring compliance with automotive customer specifications and quality management system requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily technical support to small press production operations.
  • Lead process capability studies and process control improvements.
  • Support new product and process qualifications.
  • Lead investigations of customer complaints and nonconformances using 8D,

5 Why and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and Control Plan activities.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Support IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering,or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • This position requires significant experience on factory floor where PPE is required. Must be very comfortable in that factory environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools and IATF 16949.
  • Experience with aluminum tube, extrusion, drawing or metal-forming processes.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification.

About the Team

Lafayette Operations in Lafayette, IN is located approximately 60 miles from the state's capital, Indianapolis and is the home to Purdue University. Our Lafayette location has been continuously running in Lafayette community since 1938. We are an Aluminum Extrusions plant for Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial and Defense facility.
