Bring Ideas to Life Through Design and Innovation

We are seeking a hands-on CAD Technician to join an innovative product development team in Erlanger, Kentucky. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of CAD design, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping. You'll play a critical role in transforming concepts into functional prototypes while supporting a growing internal design and engineering organization.

This is not a production environment-it's a fast-paced, collaborative setting focused on innovation, product development, and market validation. You'll work with cutting-edge additive manufacturing equipment and partner with designers and product teams to help bring new ideas to life.
What You'll Do
CAD Design & Modeling
  • Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks and related design tools
  • Translate sketches, concepts, and engineering requirements into detailed technical designs
  • Prepare and optimize files for additive manufacturing
  • Maintain organized design files and revision control throughout the development cycle
3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping
  • Set up, operate, and monitor multiple 3D printing systems
  • Prepare print jobs using slicing software such as Cura, Orca Slicer, Bambu Studio, or similar platforms
  • Manage print queues and ensure projects are completed on schedule
  • Troubleshoot print failures, material issues, and equipment settings
  • Support prototype creation for product development, design validation, and showroom demonstrations
Equipment Maintenance & Quality
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting on printing equipment
  • Conduct post-processing activities including support removal, sanding, curing, and finishing
  • Inspect printed parts for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications
  • Document results and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives
Collaboration & Innovation
  • Partner closely with Product Development and Design teams
  • Assist with prototype iterations based on testing and stakeholder feedback
  • Support material selection and evaluation of new manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to a highly collaborative, team-focused environment
Technology & Equipment

You'll have the opportunity to work with advanced additive manufacturing technologies, including:
  • SolidWorks CAD Software
  • FDM Printers (Ultimaker, Bambu Lab, Modix Large-Format)
  • SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) Equipment
  • Sifting, blasting, and finishing systems
  • Various slicing and print preparation software platforms
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in CAD, Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • Approximately 1-3+ years of hands-on CAD experience, preferably using SolidWorks
  • Experience preparing files and operating 3D printers
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies and slicing software
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred
  • Experience with FDM, SLA, SLS, or other additive manufacturing systems
  • Exposure to product development, prototyping, or industrial design environments
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles
  • Experience with BIM and/or Revit file types
  • Experience with post-processing techniques and materials
  • Interest in growing into a larger product design role over time
What Makes a Successful Candidate?

We're looking for someone who is:
  • Detail-oriented and quality-focused
  • Mechanically inclined and technically curious
  • Comfortable working with both software and physical equipment
  • A strong communicator who works well across teams
  • Eager to learn new technologies and processes
  • Passionate about innovation and hands-on problem solving
Work Environment

This position is fully onsite in Erlanger, KY and combines office-based CAD work with hands-on lab and prototyping activities.
  • Collaborative "work hard, play hard" team culture
  • Frequent interaction with product development and design teams
  • Light physical activity, including handling equipment and materials
  • PPE, including respirators, may be required when working with certain materials and processes
Why Join?
  • Work with advanced 3D printing and rapid prototyping technologies
  • Support innovative product development initiatives
  • Gain exposure to industrial-grade additive manufacturing equipment
  • Make a direct impact on products from concept through validation
  • Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term growth potential
  • Opportunity to develop into a more integrated design and product development role
