Job Description:

Field Engineer.

Responsible for managing construction inspection activities for assigned municipal transportation and infrastructure construction projects. Working under supervision of a licensed engineer, perform civil engineering and construction inspection duties and conduct on-site observations of construction installations. Work closely with municipal agencies and stakeholders in coordinating and implementing project documentation and control activities of the construction engineering field office and field inspection personnel; prepare and process progress payments, implement change orders and perform document control functions in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and specifications. Review project schedules, budgets, engineering drawings, specifications and procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications; oversee general administration of construction project field office. Develop and review daily inspector reports, ensuring that proper document control, quality assurance documentation and construction project records are maintained. Perform field quality control inspections at project and client sites. Ensure quality and uniformity in the records of contracts. Manage submittal and change order processes. Enforce project management plans and guidelines. Position duties require extensive utilization of specialized Document Control Software. and engineering software applications, including Civil 3D, E-Builder and AutoCAD. Position based at STV offices in Charlotte, North Carolina and requires approximately 90 % of travel time to client project sites throughout Eastern U.S.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, followed by minimum five years of progressive experience in the position offered. Master's degree in civil engineering with coursework in traffic engineering and highway design may be used to satisfy up to two years of required experience.
