About the Role
We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Software Engineer to join a highly skilled software team supporting mission-critical ground systems and mission support software. The team develops, enhances, and sustains multiple operational software product lines while also delivering new system capabilities for complex, high-impact environments.
You will work as part of a large, cross-functional engineering organization composed of multiple specialized software subsystems. This role focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining C++-based software solutions in a Linux environment, contributing directly to advanced ground system modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and unit test C++ software in a fast-paced Agile environment
Build and maintain software running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) virtual machines, servers, and workstations
Implement new features based on mathematical and algorithmic requirements
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and discrepancies
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, senior engineers, and cross-disciplinary teams
Contribute to continuous improvement of software quality, performance, and maintainability
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5-8 years of relevant experience
ORvMaster's degree in a STEM discipline with 3-6 years of relevant experience OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 1-4 years of relevant experience
(Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education)
Strong proficiency in C++ and object-oriented programming principles
Experience developing software in a Linux environment
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DevSecOps and test automation
Proficiency with additional programming or scripting languages such as C, Java, Python, or Perl
Strong background in mathematics and algorithms
Experience working in Agile / Scrum development teams
Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
Hands-on experience with Git-based version control systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
