ELK/ Elastic Search Engineer

Introduction

We are seeking a skilled ELK/ Elasticsearch Engineer to design, implement, and manage scalable search and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the ELK stack, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana, with hands-on experience in query optimization, indexing strategies, and cluster performance management. This role requires independent ownership of backlog items and direct interaction with clients, making strong communication and problem-solving skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Elasticsearch-based search and analytics platforms
• Index and manage large-scale datasets for optimal performance and availability
• Create interactive dashboards using Kibana (Lens, Maps, Graph)
• Build charts, panels, and metrics to deliver actionable insights
• Design efficient index mappings and data streams for time-series and large datasets
• Implement scalable indexing strategies for high-volume data
• Optimize search queries using KQL, filters, aggregations, and date histograms
• Set up alerts using Watcher and monitor cluster/system health
• Develop observability dashboards for logs and metrics
• Deploy, configure, and maintain Elasticsearch clusters (on-prem or cloud)
• Manage shard allocation, replication, and cluster scaling
• Tune index performance and implement ILM (Index Lifecycle Management) policies
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and cluster failures
• Build ingestion pipelines using Logstash and APIs
• Integrate data from multiple sources into Elasticsearch
• Work closely with development, DevOps, and data engineering teams
• Provide technical support and resolve issues related to performance, data integrity, and availability
• Design scalable, secure, and resilient search architectures
• Integrate AI assistants, agents, or automation platforms with Elasticsearch (Nice to have)

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong expertise in the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
• Hands-on experience with Kibana visualizations (Lens, Maps, Graph)
• Proficiency in KQL and Elasticsearch aggregations
• Solid understanding of indexing strategies and data modeling
• Experience with JSON and REST APIs
• Background in monitoring and observability solutions
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch ecosystem tools (Beats, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing Elasticsearch clusters in AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of cluster scaling, shard optimization, and ILM policies
• Programming experience in Python, Java, or Go
• Exposure to AI/automation integrations with data platforms
