Position: Structural Bay Engineering Technician

About the Role

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on technical support within the Structural Test Bay, collaborating with technicians and engineers to develop, build, test, and document hardware for launch vehicle programs.

Maintain high standards of quality and precision in all assigned tasks.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, while working in a team-oriented environment.

Follow and support safety guidelines, personnel protection policies, and instructions from team members, supervisors, and Environmental Health & Safety staff.

Adapt quickly to changing requirements and testing scenarios.

Assist in assembling mechanical fixtures and test setups; may support the design of test setups as needed.

Perform occasional overtime work (less than 10%) based on project needs.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2 years of additional education and/or related experience.

Positive attitude, proactive communication, and strong team orientation.

Experience working with engineering drawings, schematics, work packages, and data recording tools.

Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to perform hands-on work ranging from detailed tasks to handling large and heavy hardware.

Proficiency with standard hand tools.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to balance technical requirements with schedule, cost, and resource constraints.

Basic computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, Costpoint, and MES systems.

Knowledge of pressurized hydraulic systems.

Forklift operation experience.

Experience with crane operations and overhead lifting of large or heavy objects (e.g., structural steel).

Soldering experience.

Instrumentation experience, including installing or bonding strain gauges and linear displacement transducers.
