Performance Test Engineer Lead

Introduction

The Performance Test Engineer Lead will play a crucial role in designing and implementing comprehensive performance testing strategies for various technology platforms. They will be responsible for leading a team of performance test engineers, conducting performance analysis, resolving bottlenecks, and optimizing performance issues across different technology stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive performance testing strategies for web applications, APIs, microservices, and mobile platforms
• Architect performance test frameworks and automation solutions using industry-standard tools such as JMeter, Gatling, K6, LoadRunner, and Blaze Meter
• Define performance benchmarks, SLAs, and KPIs in collaboration with architects and product teams
• Conduct load, stress, spike, endurance, and scalability testing across diverse technology stacks
• Lead performance test environment setup, data management, and infrastructure provisioning
• Perform deep-dive root cause analysis on performance bottlenecks and collaborate with development teams to resolve code-level issues
• Optimize database queries, indexes, connection pooling, and transaction management
• Recommend and validate caching strategies to improve response times
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of performance test engineers
• Present performance test results, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
• Establish performance testing standards, best practices, and governance frameworks

Requirements

Required Skills

• Experience in designing and implementing performance testing strategies
• Proficiency in performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, K6, LoadRunner, Blaze Meter
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead and mentor a team of performance test engineers

Preferred Skills

• Experience in conducting performance analysis and optimization
• Knowledge of APM tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, AppDynamics
• Experience in collaborating with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
• Experience in establishing performance testing standards and best practices
• Experience in presenting technical findings to business stakeholders
