Why This is an Exciting Role:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA to design and maintain system architectures, program requirements, interface specifications, and system testing as an integrated part of our agile teams and contribute across the entire product lifecycle.

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
Lead Systems Engineering activities to ensure successful HW/SW integration and test for critical mission systems
Develop and define system architectures to meet program requirements
Analyze requirements to support system design, SW/HW integration and test
Collaborate with cross-contractor teams to ensure system performance and compliance
Prepare system documentation and participate in technical reviews (SRR, PDR, etc)
Support test planning and risk assessments
Collaborate closely with SW development team to execute rigorous systems engineering using SySML and Cameo/MSOSA modeling
Work daily in a SCIF with an Agile drumbeat

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:

Required Education and Years of Experience:
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work
    experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Qualifications:
  • Requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (Has been active in the past 24 months)
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices, including management requirements, architecture development, functional allocation, verification, validation
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Proficiency in SysML modeling

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in software systems engineering and familiarity with the software development lifecycle
  • Prior experience working within Agile teams
  • Hands-on experience with Cameo or Catia Magic Systems of Systems Architect tools

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$155,000 - $190,000
