Job DescriptionStantec is seeking a senior-level Process Engineer to support the continued growth of our Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), industrial wastewater, and municipal treatment practices. This role is ideal for a technically strong, client-facing engineer who brings hands-on experience in biogas/RNG systems, wastewater process design, and project delivery, and who is motivated to grow into a technical leadership and Project Technical Lead (PTL) role.
You will play a key role in delivering complex projects, supporting business development, mentoring staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients across the Mountain West and beyond.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Serve as a lead process engineer on renewable energy, industrial wastewater, and municipal treatment projects, with a focus on anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, and RNG systems
- Lead or contribute to conceptual, preliminary, and detailed process design, including development of PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and process specifications
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to project teams, including junior engineers and designers
- Support Project Managers and PTLs in delivering projects on scope, schedule, budget, and quality
Renewable Natural Gas & Energy Systems
- Act as a technical resource and subject matter expert for biogas and RNG projects, including pipeline injection systems, gas conditioning, compression, and regulatory compliance
- Support feasibility studies, evaluations, optimization, and troubleshooting of existing RNG and digestion facilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate wastewater treatment and energy recovery solutions
- Assist with operations, optimization, and performance improvement initiatives for existing facilities
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Serve as a client-facing technical lead, supporting proposal development, technical interviews, and project pursuits
- Participate in seller-doer activities by identifying opportunities with existing and new clients in RNG, industrial, and municipal markets
- Support conference presentations, technical publications, and thought leadership related to RNG, wastewater treatment, and energy recovery
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, regulators, utilities, and project partners
Leadership & Growth
- Support the development of Stantec's RNG and industrial wastewater capabilities through knowledge sharing, standards development, and internal collaboration
- Contribute to staff development through mentoring, technical training, and coaching
- Grow toward a Project Technical Lead (PTL) role, with increasing responsibility for technical quality, risk management, and client satisfaction
QualificationsQualifications - Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Colorado or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
- 12+ years of progressive experience in wastewater process engineering, industrial treatment, or renewable energy systems
- Demonstrated experience with anaerobic digestion, biogas, or RNG systems
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including industrial applications
- Proven ability to lead technical work and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client presentations

About the TeamPay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
