Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business/Data Analyst with strong expertise in the banking and financial services domain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in requirements gathering, data analysis, regulatory reporting, and working with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. This role involves translating complex business needs into actionable insights and driving process improvements across financial data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for banking and financial systems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define user stories, manage product backlogs, and support Agile delivery cycles
- Perform data analysis using SQL, Excel, and Python to support reporting, reconciliation, and decision-making
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau and Excel (VBA/Macros)
- Support regulatory reporting and compliance requirements ensuring alignment with banking standards
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, validation, and reconciliation
- Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure successful implementation and testing
- Participate in data governance initiatives to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity
- Assist in legacy system modernization or decommissioning projects, including data migration strategies
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation solutions
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst / Data Analyst in the banking or financial services industry
- Strong experience in requirements gathering and documentation
- Proficiency in:
- SQL (advanced querying)
- Excel (VBA/Macros)
- Tableau or other BI tools
- Python (preferred)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Git, Toad
- Strong understanding of:
- Data modeling and ETL processes
- Regulatory reporting and compliance
- Data governance principles
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
