Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced
Tenable Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support and enhance an enterprise vulnerability management program. This role will serve as the primary technical authority for all Tenable platforms and will be responsible for optimizing scan configurations, improving asset tagging structures, leveraging automation through APIs, and driving overall scanning efficiency and data quality.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Tenable experience, deep technical expertise, and a process-improvement mindset. They should be able to translate vulnerability data into clear, actionable outcomes for stakeholders across a large, distributed enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary technical lead and SME for Tenable.sc and Tenable.io.
- Review and streamline scan profiles, policies, schedules, and templates to reduce redundancy and improve consistency.
- Lead the cleanup, standardization, and governance of asset tags, repositories, and organizational structures.
- Assess current scanning coverage and performance and recommend improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Design and implement optimized scanning strategies aligned with business, network, and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain automation and integrations using the Tenable API for reporting, data ingestion, enrichment, and workflow automation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and endpoint teams to ensure authenticated, high-quality, and minimally disruptive scanning.
- Create and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for Tenable configuration and operations.
- Support vulnerability management teams by improving data quality, consistency, and usability.
- Troubleshoot scan failures, credential issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Provide guidance on platform upgrades, new features, and roadmap adoption.

Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting large enterprise or highly regulated environments
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages for API-driven automation
- Familiarity with CMDBs, SIEM, SOAR, and ticketing system integrations
- Relevant security or Tenable certifications
