Job Title: Snowflake Administrator (3-Month Contract, Remote)

About the Role

Symbotic is seeking a highly skilled Snowflake Administrator to support the administration, optimization, governance, and operational management of our Snowflake data platform. This role will be responsible for ensuring platform stability, security, cost efficiency, and performance while collaborating with engineering and data teams to support business-critical data operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Snowflake environments across development, testing, and production
• Manage user access, service accounts, roles, and permissions using Snowflake RBAC best practices
• Configure, maintain, and optimize Snowflake warehouses for performance and cost efficiency
• Monitor platform health, query performance, and resource utilization
• Troubleshoot and resolve Snowflake performance, access, and operational issues
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Support CI/CD processes utilizing GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Implement cost-monitoring strategies and provide recommendations to optimize Snowflake consumption
• Partner with engineering and analytics teams to support data pipeline integration and operational needs
• Assist with data platform migrations, including Snowflake on Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery migration initiatives
• Maintain platform documentation, governance standards, and operational procedures

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in database administration, data platform engineering, or cloud data warehouse administration
• Strong hands-on experience administering Snowflake in production environments
• Deep understanding of:
• Snowflake RBAC
• User and service account provisioning
• Role and permission management
• Security and governance best practices
• Experience managing Snowflake warehouses, auto-suspend/resume configurations, multi-cluster warehouses, and resource monitors
• Advanced SQL skills with experience troubleshooting performance issues and optimizing workloads
• Experience utilizing Snowflake ACCOUNT_USAGE and INFORMATION_SCHEMA views
• Strong Terraform experience managing Snowflake resources as code
• Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience with BigQuery administration or migration projects
• Familiarity with Python and data engineering workflows
• Experience supporting dbt, Kafka, or similar data pipelines
• Knowledge of data lakehouse architectures
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms
• Understanding of FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization
