Senior Red Hat OpenShift Automation Engineer
Location: Rockville, MD or Southern New Jersey (Atlantic City area)

Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Red Hat OpenShift Automation Engineer to join a growing infrastructure team supporting large-scale enterprise environments. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Red Hat OpenShift, Ansible Automation, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) who enjoys building scalable, automated infrastructure solutions.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting complex production environments-not just lab implementations-and has a proven track record of designing, deploying, and automating enterprise platforms.

Required Technical Capabilities
We're looking for a strong, hands-on Linux professional with mid-to-senior-level expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical environments.

• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7, 8, and/or 10)
• Ansible automation and configuration management
• Bash scripting
• DNF and local repository management
• Git-based configuration management, including cloning, commits, branching, and merging
• RHEL kernel patching, updates, and troubleshooting
• GNOME/RDP graphical environments
• Headless Linux display environments and virtualized monitor/display configurations
• Linux performance and latency analysis
• Ability to troubleshoot performance issues across CPU, memory, storage I/O, networking, virtualization, applications, and remote displays
• SELinux and FIPS-enabled environments
• COTS software and hardware installation and integration
• Strong independent troubleshooting skills while also collaborating effectively within a team

We value demonstrated technical capability and hands-on expertise over an arbitrary number of years of experience.
Preferred Capabilities
Experience with any of the following would be highly valuable:

• Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization
• Containerization and high-availability architectures
• Cisco switches and routers
• Multicast networking and BGP/edge connectivity
• NetApp ONTAP and MetroCluster
• Portworx
• Jenkins
• STIG/system hardening
• Vulnerability remediation and security scanning
• Previous air traffic systems experience
• Relevant certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, Red Hat OpenShift certifications, CCNA, Security+, or similar
