About the Role
We''re seeking a hands-on Senior Backend Java Engineer to drive the migration of REST-based microservices to GraphQL endpoints on our modern CORE platform. This is an active coding role (not tech lead or architect), focused on collaborating with GraphQL API partners for field mapping, query construction, and ensuring data integrity/response time parity between legacy and new systems. If you''re a GraphQL expert with deep Java/Spring Boot experience, we need you!

First Priority: Prior Capital One experience
Second Priority: Strong financial domain candidates with 8+ years of proven GraphQL expertise

Required Technical Skills

Java: 8+ years of hands-on development experience
Spring Boot: Strong experience refactoring and migrating existing microservices
GraphQL: Proven experience consuming GraphQL APIs in Java/Spring Boot, including field mapping, query construction, and response handling
AWS Fargate/ECS: Hands-on operational experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized services
Microservices: Solid understanding of REST-based microservices architecture
Performance Testing/Validation (Strong Plus): Benchmarking response times and data integrity between legacy and modern systems

Key Responsibilities

Migrate REST microservices to consume GraphQL endpoints on the CORE platform
Partner with GraphQL API teams to map legacy fields to GraphQL equivalents
Build, test, and validate GraphQL queries for data accuracy and performance
Deploy and manage services on AWS Fargate/ECS
Conduct performance benchmarking to ensure parity with legacy systems

Soft Skills

Exceptional communication and analytical skills to collaborate cross-team
Meticulous attention to detail for field mapping and migration accuracy
