Central Office Installation Technician About the RoleWe are hiring experienced Level II or higher Central Office Installation Technicians to support critical telecom infrastructure projects in the Knoxville region. Candidates must live within a two-hour radius of Knoxville, be able to work with minimal supervision, and communicate effectively within a small, fast-moving team. Technicians will collaborate closely with a Foreman who serves as the direct point of leadership and coordination.
This position requires strong technical competency across wireline, wireless, Central Office (CO), and Mobile Switching Center (MSC) environments, with hands-on skills in DC power systems, fiber installation, and transport equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Install and remove fiber optic cables
- Perform fiber pre-termination, termination, and raceway installations
- Conduct lead verification and community testing
- Analyze job specifications, drawings, and technical documents
- Assign tasks to Level 1 and Level 2 installers
- Prepare Methods of Procedure (MOPs)
- Prepare Job Information Methods (JIMs)
- Resolve issues with job specs or construction drawings
- Update, mark, and correct office record drawings
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections
- Serve as the installation supplier's in-charge person on common system jobs
- Work with telecom systems including alarms, float/equalize, internal resistance, microhms/mhos, rectifiers, and PDUs
- Follow EPA and HAZMAT guidelines related to battery handling and recycling
- Use cabling and lugging tools such as hydraulic crimpers, cable cutters, and heat guns
- Operate test equipment including Alber and Midtronics devices
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations
- Work with 12V, 24V, and 48V DC systems (experience preferred)
Required Technical CompetenciesTechnicians must demonstrate Level II or higher proficiency in:
- Central Office and MSC environments
- DC power systems
- Fiber optic installation and termination
- Wireline and wireless systems
- Telemetry and alarm systems
- LTE and transport systems (DS0 through OC-192)
- Grounding, raceway, superstructure, and battery systems
- Bellcore/Telcordia, NFPA, UBC, and NEC codes and standards

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
