Job DetailsBuild your future in our Substation Protection & Control group as a Protection & Control Engineer. In this role, you will be a key contributor in the design and development of utility substation Protection & Control (P&C) engineering design packages. These packages include one-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC elementary schematics, circuit schedules, logic and operating diagrams, and related deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and design concurrence
- Develop complete P&C engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring and connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
- Prepare SCADA design packages, including input/output lists and point data sheets
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with current and prospective clients
- Present technical solutions clearly and confidently to customers, addressing questions and concerns in real time
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits to gather or present engineering and design information
- Execute assignments independently, with general direction provided by the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer for complex or non-routine projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus; a master's degree may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- International engineering degrees will be considered
- Minimum of 3 years of experience developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license preferred, with an interest in pursuing a Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with physical substation design in addition to P&C engineering is a plus
- Commitment to continuing education and professional licensure
