Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Engineer

Varmoda is seeking a Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Engineer to provide technical guidance and cloud engineering expertise to customers adopting Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) services. The role focuses on designing secure cloud foundations, automating infrastructure and application provisioning, developing cloud-ready architectures, and helping customers migrate, build, modernize, and maintain applications on Google Cloud Platform. The resource will serve as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers solve complex cloud infrastructure challenges while implementing scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions aligned with business and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide domain expertise in cloud platforms and infrastructure while solving complex cloud platform and engineering challenges.

• Work directly with customers to design and implement Google Cloud Platform-based technical architectures that support business and technical objectives.
• Develop and recommend cloud migration approaches and application optimization strategies.
• Provide best-practice guidance for secure foundational cloud implementations and cloud-ready application architectures.
• Design and support automated provisioning of cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Serve as a technical advisor to customers throughout cloud migration, modernization, implementation, and operational activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges related to cloud platforms, infrastructure, applications, and deployments.
• Provide prescriptive technical guidance to help customers effectively adopt and operate Google Cloud Platform services.
• Support cloud automation, DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
• Develop and deliver technical best-practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code.
• Collaborate with customers and technical stakeholders to successfully deliver cloud projects.
• Apply cloud security practices, including identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate management, and key management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience with infrastructure provisioning automation, DevOps, continuous integration, or continuous delivery.
• Experience designing enterprise cloud solutions and supporting customer projects through completion.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) services and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud-based technical architectures and migration solutions.
• Programming experience in one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Java, Go, C, or C++.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience troubleshooting complex cloud platform and infrastructure issues.
• Strong customer-facing technical communication and advisory skills.
• Ability to provide technical recommendations and translate customer requirements into effective cloud solutions.
• U.S. Citizenship required to meet customer and compliance requirements, including potential access to classified information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Familiarity with standard IT security practices, including identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate management, and key management.
• Experience designing and building prototypes or applications.
• Familiarity with DoD Impact Level 5 (IL5) and Impact Level 6 (IL6) security standards.
• Experience supporting secure cloud environments and regulated or government workloads.
• Experience with cloud migration, modernization, DevOps, and infrastructure automation initiatives.

Certifications & Clearance

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Top Secret (TS) clearance desired.
• Google Cloud certifications are beneficial but not specified as a requirement.
