Job Title: Junior Full Stack Java Developer
Location: Albany, NY
Duration: W2 role

As a Full Stack Java Developer, the work you’ll do will be impactful to the mission of our customer. You will play a crucial role as you join our team in partnership with the client to provide comprehensive health coverage to more than 7.0 million New Yorkers.

Key Responsibilities

  • You’ll join our talented Development Team. Our project is built on a multi-tier architecture including service-oriented architecture (SOA), multi-tier web applications using Java, and various other COTS products.
  • Build and maintain highly complex, high-volume, large-scale, scalable, maintainable and extensible software on a Java/J2EE application stack using the full software development life cycle (SDLC), from concept, design and documentation to testing, ensuring compliance with specifications and adherence to coding standards.
  • Analyze user and business needs and functionality to plan and assist with the design of software systems that meet those needs.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in software development with an understanding of Core Java/J2EE, Spring Framework, ORM tools, Java build tools, JUnit testing, web services, relational databases and SQL
  • 1 year of large-scale application experience

Skills

  • Ability to write simple and complex SQL queries, preferably with DB2 SQL syntax including PL/SQL
  • Good analytical and multitasking skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; apply critical thinking and creative problem solving

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Healthcare, Medicaid or Health Exchange experience
  • Experience with Angular
  • Foundational knowledge of prompt engineering principles for working effectively with AI models
  • Knowledge of IDE-based AI coding agents such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon Kiro or Claude Code to accelerate boilerplate generation, debugging and unit testing
