Role: HR Systems Project Manager

Overview
We are seeking an HR Systems Project Manager to support a complex ecosystem of HR-related systems and applications. This role functions as a PM-like delivery and intake lead, sitting between HR, Operations, and Technology to ensure issues, defects, and enhancements are clearly understood, prioritized, and executed.
The environment includes core HR platforms (e.g., SuccessFactors, JDE) alongside numerous custom, in-house applications supporting ship and crew operations. Many requests are high-volume, poorly defined, and operationally critical, requiring strong analytical skills, system intuition, and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
Intake, Analysis & Prioritization
- Own and manage a high-volume intake queue of HR system incidents, defects, and enhancement requests.
- Analyze ambiguous or poorly written tickets to determine true business need, impact, and urgency.
- Engage directly with Operations teams (often offshore) and their managers to clarify intent and functionality.
- Translate requests into clear functional documentation, such as user stories or lightweight BRDs, depending on scope.
Program & Delivery Management
- Act as a Scrum Master like organizer for HR systems work where formal IT ownership is limited.
- Maintain visibility across a large backlog of open items, prioritize demand, and guide IT teams on sequencing and focus.
- Track progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers across concurrent workstreams.
- Ensure delivery remains organized within a fragmented, legacy-heavy systems landscape.
Project & Enhancement Leadership
- Lead larger HR system initiatives end to end, including discovery, requirements definition, and delivery coordination.
- Support initiatives related to crew onboarding, check-in/check-out, travel, medical credentialing, and operational workflows.
- Coordinate across integrations involving core HR systems, digital applications, middleware layers, and custom platforms.
Qualifications
- Experience in HR systems delivery, functional analysis, or project/program management.
- Working knowledge of SuccessFactors and core HR processes (not a payroll-only profile).
- Experience working with ERP platforms (e.g., JDE) and custom or legacy applications.
- Strong ability to interpret unclear requirements, learn unfamiliar systems quickly, and translate business needs into functional and technical context.
- Comfortable working with offshore operations teams and escalating as needed to resolve issues.
- Highly organized, decisive, and effective in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
