CMS Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a hybrid CMS Architect to join their team in New York, NY.

Summary:
We are seeking an individual to help design, build, and lead the implementation of our next-generation CMS platform. This role will focus on building CMS-driven web experiences using Next.js and Sanity (headless CMS), while operating in an AI-native development model. This is a high-impact, hands-on role suited for an engineer who can operate as a technical authority, shape governance models, and help guide teams through a major platform transformation.

Responsibilities:
* CMS Architect will design, develop, and maintain frontend components and CMS integrations using Next.js
* Configure and model content structures in Sanity CMS, including advanced schema design
* Deeply customize Sanity Studio dashboards, desk structure, and editorial workflows
* Translate Figma designs and wireframes into scalable, accessible, reusable components
* Architect modular, CMS-driven page systems
* Define and advise on enterprise CMS governance models
* Optimize data modeling and querying using GROQ, GraphQL, and REST APIs
* As a CMS Architect, you will support migration from a legacy CMS using automation and AI-assisted techniques
* Apply AI tools throughout the development lifecycle
* Participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and promote best practices
* Collaborate effectively with designers, product, and non-technical stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5-6+ years of professional software engineering experience (frontend or full-stack)
* Proven experience building Next.js applications backed by a headless CMS (required)
* Hands-on experience with Sanity CMS (strongly preferred) or similar headless platforms
* Experience with GROQ and familiarity with GraphQL
* Demonstrated, consistent use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot)
* Experience interpreting Figma designs into production-ready components
* Advanced understanding of content modeling, CMS architecture, and governance
* Knowledge of web performance, SEO, accessibility, and modern frontend best practices
* Strong proficiency in Next.js/React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
* Strong communication skills and ability to explain architectural tradeoffs

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
