Summary

Role: Backend AI Engineer (Python / AWS / GenAI)

Location: Remote – Must be commutable to any Fed headquarters or branch office (San Francisco, CA; Chicago, IL; NYC, NY; Richmond, VA; Kansas City, MO; Cleveland, OH; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX)

Duration: 12 months, w/ possible extension

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Backend AI Engineer to design and build scalable AI/ML and Generative AI systems. This role focuses on developing APIs, backend services, and MLOps pipelines using Python, AWS, and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop REST/GraphQL APIs and backend services for AI/ML applications
Build and support LLM-based systems (RAG, document processing, knowledge bases)
Integrate AWS AI services (SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, API Gateway)
Implement MLOps pipelines, model deployment, and monitoring
Design scalable, event-driven architectures and optimize performance

Required Skills:

4+ years of backend development experience
Strong Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)
Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, and AI service integration
Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
Experience with APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems

Preferred:

Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Docker, CI/CD
Knowledge of vector databases and MLOps tools
