Project Duration: Long Term Contract

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a high-performing Cloud Systems Design & Development Engineer (Level 6) to support the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Next Enterprise Application Modernization and Migration (EAMM) program.
  • This role is ideal for a DevSecOps-focused cloud engineer with strong experience in AWS GovCloud, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline engineering, who can contribute to mission-critical deployments in a secure, compliance-driven DoD environment.
  • You will support the design, deployment, integration, and optimization of cloud-native applications and infrastructure, while contributing to scalable, secure, and automated DevSecOps pipelines aligned with Cloud One and Platform One standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS GovCloud-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
  • Support environment provisioning, networking configuration, and secure cloud architecture implementation
  • Assist in building scalable and resilient cloud environments aligned with DoD and Zero Trust principles

DevSecOps & CI/CD Pipeline Engineering

  • Develop, configure, and troubleshoot GitLab CI/CD pipelines for application delivery
  • Support GitLab runner setup, pipeline optimization, and deployment automation
  • Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD for automated and auditable deployments
  • Integrate security scanning, testing, and validation into CI/CD pipelines

Containerization & Kubernetes Operations

  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Configure and maintain container orchestration environments
  • Support Helm charts, manifests, and container lifecycle management

Application Deployment & Integration

  • Execute application deployments and environment configuration tasks
  • Support API integrations and data flow configurations across distributed systems
  • Assist in troubleshooting system integration and deployment issues

Systems Engineering & Problem Solving

  • Contribute to defining system scope, architecture, and technical solutions for cloud modernization efforts
  • Apply advanced engineering methods to solve complex cloud and integration challenges
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and architects to implement enterprise-scale solutions

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain and update technical documentation, deployment guides, and SOPs
  • Ensure solutions meet DoD security requirements (STIGs, RMF, Zero Trust)
  • Support testing, validation, and audit readiness activities

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
    OR
  • Associate degree with 5 7 years of experience
    OR
  • 7 9 years of relevant experience without a degree

Certifications & Clearance

  • CompTIA Security+ (or DoD 8570/8140 equivalent certification)
  • Active Secret Clearance (required)
  • Active CAC or ability to obtain immediately

Technical Requirements

Hands-on experience with:

  • AWS GovCloud (required; Cloud One experience preferred)
  • Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
  • GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • ArgoCD (GitOps deployment)

Experience with:

  • Containerized application deployments
  • API integration and data exchange
  • CI/CD pipeline troubleshooting and optimization

Availability

  • Immediate availability preferred

Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desired)

  • Experience supporting:
  • Cloud One / Platform One environments
  • DoD or federal cloud programs (IL2/IL4/IL5 environments)

  • Familiarity with:
  • Zero Trust Architecture
  • Iron Bank container standards
  • Secure DevSecOps pipelines in regulated environments

  • Experience with:
  • Observability tools (Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Automated testing and security scanning tools

  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash)
