Description:
Senior Software Engineer, Data & Analytics

Location: Charlotte, NC (preferred) | Dallas, TX (Irving - secondary)
Employment Type: Contingent / Contract (12 months)
Work Model: Hybrid / Onsite as required
About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Data & Analytics to design, build, and own enterprise-scale data pipelines that power critical analytics and business decision-making. In this role, you'll take end-to-end ownership of complex initiatives, collaborate across engineering and product teams, and help shape scalable, reliable data solutions in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

This role goes beyond implementation. You'll lead through action, communicate proactively, surface risks early, and drive outcomes with minimal oversight. Experience working in large financial services or regulated environments is a plus.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable data pipelines supporting enterprise analytics use cases
  • Translate business requirements into robust, data-driven technical solutions
  • Build and optimize data workflows using SQL, Python, PySpark, and Spark-SQL
  • Own deliverables end-to-end: architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production support
  • Lead initiatives by:
    • Driving work to completion with clear accountability
    • Communicating status, risks, and dependencies proactively
    • Escalating issues early and constructively
    • Partnering closely with product managers and upstream/downstream teams
  • Improve pipeline reliability, performance, scalability, and observability
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, improve code quality and test coverage, and address security and vulnerability findings
  • Collaborate within Agile (Scrum or SAFe) teams and mentor peers through code reviews and technical guidance
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Hive, and Iceberg tables
  • 4+ years working with SQL Server or other relational databases
  • Strong programming experience with:
    • Python
    • PySpark / Spark-SQL
    • Scala
    • Bash scripting
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, improving test coverage, and remediating vulnerabilities
  • 2+ years of experience working in Agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in financial services or other large, regulated enterprise environments
  • Experience with streaming or event-driven architectures (e.g., Apache Kafka)
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, Dremio, and object storage platforms
  • Experience with workload scheduling and orchestration tools such as Airflow, Autosys, or Oozie
What Sets You Apart
  • Strong, proactive communicator who shares progress, risks, and decisions clearly
  • Demonstrated ownership-delivering outcomes, not just completing tasks
  • Self-starter mindset: you identify problems, propose solutions, and take action
  • Comfortable operating in complex, large-scale systems with multiple stakeholders
Why Join This Role

This is an opportunity to own critical data infrastructure, influence architecture, and lead initiatives with real visibility and impact. If you thrive in environments that value accountability, technical excellence, and clear communication, this role offers meaningful challenges and growth.
