About the Role
Comrise is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support a leading autonomous ride-hailing company in Foster City, CA. In this high-visibility role, you will work directly with the Autonomy Hardware Systems Verification & Validation (V&V) team to develop low-latency embedded software, sensor emulators, and Python-based automation frameworks for safety-critical hardware testing infrastructure.
If you thrive at the intersection of C++ development, Linux systems, and hardware-software integration, this is an exceptional opportunity to help validate cutting-edge autonomous vehicle platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Build Production C++ Code: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, production-quality C++ applications on embedded Linux, targeting both user-space and kernel-space low-latency execution.
- Develop Test Automation: Build scalable, Python-based test automation frameworks (Pytest) and tools to streamline integration, execution, and performance validation.
- Hardware & Sensor Emulation: Build and expand hardware/software sensor emulators while extending existing test assets and validation frameworks.
- Hardware Interfacing: Integrate embedded software with FPGA-based and ECU hardware using protocols such as Ethernet, CAN, SPI, and I2C.
- V&V & System Troubleshooting: Execute end-to-end verification strategies, perform system-level diagnostics, and debug complex hardware/software issues.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with 4+ years of hands-on industry experience.
- C++ Expertise: Strong proficiency in C++ focusing on low-latency, high-performance applications in Linux user space (kernel-space experience is a strong plus).
- Linux Systems: Extensive background in Linux system-level programming and networking.
- Python & Tools: Proficiency with Python for automation/testing (Pytest), Git version control, build systems (Bazel), and unit testing frameworks (GTest).
- Embedded Protocols: Hands-on experience with embedded interfaces including Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
Bonus / Preferred Skills
- Linux kernel development and device driver implementation for ARM cores using Xilinx SDK or MPSoC platforms.
- Experience with Yocto, Petalinux, or FPGA development (SystemVerilog / HDL verification).
- Familiarity with high-speed protocols (PCIe, MIPI CSI-2), Precision Time Protocol (PTP / IEEE 1588), or Automotive Ethernet.
- Ability to read and analyze electronic schematics and PCB designs.
Why Apply?
- Competitive Compensation: Earn a top-tier rate of $99.26/hr.
- Cutting-Edge Tech: Work directly with state-of-the-art autonomous mobility hardware and sensor suites.
- Impact: Your code will directly validate safety-critical infrastructure that powers the future of autonomous transit.
