About the Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead the development of advanced electronic controls for a space-grade defense program. In this role, you will own the technical execution of the project, guide a team of Electrical Engineers, and ensure seamless integration across all engineering contributors. You will also be responsible for schedule planning, earned value / cost account management, and driving engineering excellence throughout the lifecycle. Responsibilities - Lead all technical aspects of the electronic development effort, ensuring alignment with program requirements and engineering best practices.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Electrical Engineers, support performance evaluations and career growth.
- Oversee design, analysis, prototyping, integration, and test activities for space-grade electronic assemblies.
- Ensure product integrity through rigorous validation and qualification testing.
- Own project schedules, engineering resource planning, and milestone execution.
- Coordinate work across Cognizant Engineers, systems engineering, and cross-functional partners.
- Manage project budgets, track performance (EVMS/CAM), and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Drive process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and design robustness.
- Support customer interactions, technical presentations, and design reviews.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 2 years in project or technical leadership roles.
- Proven background developing electronic systems; experience with high reliability or space grade hardware strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision making abilities.
- Experience with cost account management and budget oversight.
- Deep understanding of design principles, PCB development, and test methodologies.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Active U.S. security clearance required; U.S. citizenship is necessary for access to classified information.
