Location: San Diego, California (Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a LabVIEW/TestStand Software Engineer to develop innovative LabVIEW-centric solutions for production test systems. The qualified candidate will join a dynamic, people-focused environment, interacting with users, customers, and other developers to create the next generation of communications and signal processing systems. This role involves working on advanced platforms from concept to finished systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, deploy, and support LabVIEW programs and test instrumentation throughout all project life cycle phases.
  • Translate system requirements, specifications, and objectives into system designs.
  • Interface with end-users and customers to refine requirements and iterate designs.
  • Generate test plans and documentation to verify compliance with system-level requirements.
  • Produce software documentation to support software release packages.
  • Manage time and demonstrate flexibility to support multiple programs.
  • Present assigned work at program technical reviews, proposals, or other technical meetings.
Required Qualifications

This position can be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level depending on experience and qualifications. All candidates with an active DOD Secret clearance are heavily preferred for this position.

Principal Software Engineer:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience; a Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Proven experience with National Instruments LabVIEW data acquisition systems and programming.
  • Experience developing measurement and test routines in the LabVIEW environment.


Senior Principal Software Engineer:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of professional experience; a Master's degree with 6 years of experience; or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Proven experience with National Instruments LabVIEW data acquisition systems and programming.
  • Experience developing measurement and test routines in the LabVIEW/TestStand environment.


General Skills:
  • Defines development test plans and methods to ensure a robust design is achieved.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize and prioritize job assignments.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with cross-functional team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and ability to document design, analysis, and test reports.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision to meet deadlines and budget.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of LabVIEW algorithms and test environments.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a development team.
  • CLAD, CLD, or CLA LabVIEW Certifications.
  • Experience in a cross-functional environment (mechanical, electrical, software, systems, test, production engineering) to translate customer requirements into realized control models.
