Job Description

Consumer Product Testing Analytical Director is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the scientific strategy and operational execution of product safety and quality testing. This role ensures that consumer products comply to global and US standards of CPSC, ASTM, ISO and other regulatory standards that allows consumer products to be safely sold across the world for the largest retailers we know and use today.

Core Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Establish the vision for analytical programs and align testing strategies with broader business goals.
  • Method Development & Validation: Oversee the creation and validation of new analytical methods for detecting substances (e.g., food contact testing, allergerns or heavy metals) to ensure they are "fit for purpose" and meet current regulatory expectations.
  • Lab Operations Management: Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including equipment qualification, maintenance, and the achievement of job deadlines.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of scientists and analysts; oversee hiring, training, and performance reviews.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all laboratory activities adhere to strict quality systems (ISO 17025) and manage regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to integrate analytical findings into product development and lifecycle management.
  • Vendor & Client Management: Oversee third-party testing sites and maintain relationships with external vendors and factories to ensure data integrity and timely results.

Qualifications

Key Skills & Qualifications (2026 Standards)
  • Education: Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience: Typically 10-12+ years in analytical chemistry or product testing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, ICP and Ion Chromatography
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of CPSC, FDA, USP, and environmental standards like PFAS regulations.
