Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Telecom Solution Engineer / Solutions Architect to lead a mission-critical Channel Bank and legacy telecom retirement initiative in a regulated utility environment. This role combines technical architecture, hands-on execution, and structured program leadership to successfully transition legacy TDM-based telecom systems to modern network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in legacy telecom technologies (Channel Banks, POTS, 56K, T1) and proven experience designing and executing phased migrations to Ethernet, MPLS, fiber, and wireless solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution of legacy telecom retirement efforts from discovery through final decommissioning
• Conduct detailed service inventory and dependency analysis, including demarcation points and site constraints
• Design phased migration strategies, including cutover plans, rollback procedures, and testing approaches
• Own or technically direct carrier engagement activities such as ASRs, LSRs, provisioning, turn-ups, and disconnects
• Coordinate execution across carriers, contractors, internal SMEs, operations teams, and senior leadership
• Lead cutover events with real-time technical decision-making (on-site or remote as required)
• Maintain risk tracking, status reporting, and execution oversight using Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, Project)
• Drive formal service decommissioning and billing disconnects to ensure cost savings realization
• Ensure adherence to change management and regulatory compliance standards typical of utility environments

Required Technical Skills

• Proven experience leading large-scale telecom migrations in live production environments
• Deep expertise in legacy telecom infrastructure: Channel Banks, POTS, 56K circuits, T1
• Strong working knowledge of Ethernet, MPLS, E-Line, E-LAN, fiber, and wireless access technologies
• Hands-on leadership of cutover and migration events
• Direct experience managing carrier orders and provisioning activities
• Strong stakeholder management skills across cross-functional technical and business teams
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Visio, Project)

Nice to Have

• Experience working in utility or other regulated environments
• Exposure to SCADA, OT, or critical infrastructure communications
• Experience with telecom billing validation and cost recovery
• Familiarity with ITIL-based change and incident management processes
• PMP certification or equivalent
• Background in Solutions Architecture or Sales Engineering within a carrier or network vendor
