Job Description – HiL Test Engineer (Autonomy / ADAS)

Customer: Caterpillar – Autonomy Division
Location: Peoria, IL (Onsite)

Role Summary

Seeking experienced HiL Test Engineers to support Caterpillar’s autonomous mining equipment validation using dSPACE SCALEXIO. The role focuses on autonomy/ADAS system testing, simulation-based validation, and early identification of software and system defects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute HiL testing and validation for autonomous and ADAS systems.
  • Develop, execute, and automate HiL test cases using dSPACE SCALEXIO.
  • Integrate and configure HiL test environments for system-level validation.
  • Troubleshoot test failures, analyze results, and identify software/system defects.
  • Support simulation-based validation to reduce dependency on physical machine testing.
  • Collaborate with development and validation teams to improve test coverage.

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience with dSPACE SCALEXIO HiL platforms.
  • Experience in ADAS, autonomous systems, or automotive systems validation.
  • HiL test execution, test automation, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of ECU communication, CAN/J1939, and simulation environments.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle or mining equipment validation.
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink, ControlDesk, AutomationDesk, or similar tools.
