Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Workday Architect / Engineer to support a large investor-owned utility in Columbus, Ohio.

This role will lead the architecture, configuration, security, integration, and data migration strategy for Workday HCM and/or Financial Management solutions.

The client environment includes Workday, PeopleSoft, and IBM Maximo, requiring a strong architect who can design and govern the coexistence and integration architecture across these platforms during an active transformation program.

The ideal candidate will bring deep Workday architecture experience combined with hands-on integration knowledge, PeopleSoft-to-Workday migration experience, and the ability to work directly with HR, Finance, IT, and business leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end Workday solution architecture across HCM, Payroll, Financials, and/or Adaptive Planning.
• Translate business requirements into scalable Workday architecture and configuration.
• Design and govern the Workday security model, including domain and business process security groups.
• Design Workday business processes and organizational structures.
• Architect integrations between Workday and upstream/downstream enterprise systems.
• Develop integration strategies using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, and REST/SOAP-based integration patterns.
• Design integrations with PeopleSoft, IBM Maximo, benefits providers, payroll vendors, and data warehouses.
• Architect procurement and asset-management data flows between Workday Financials/Procurement and IBM Maximo.
• Ensure accurate vendor, asset, cost-center, and financial data alignment across systems.
• Own the PeopleSoft-to-Workday data conversion and migration strategy.
• Design coexistence architecture while PeopleSoft and IBM Maximo remain in production during phased Workday rollouts.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, and business leadership to translate requirements into Workday configuration and process solutions.
• Lead unit testing, integration testing, UAT, cutover, and go-live planning.
• Provide technical and architectural guidance to client and delivery teams.
• Mentor client and delivery teams on Workday best practices and Workday biannual release management.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of Workday implementation and/or solution architecture experience.
• At least one full-lifecycle Workday implementation as a Lead Architect.
• Deep expertise in Workday HCM and/or Financial Management.
• Strong knowledge of Workday configuration, security, business processes, and organizational structures.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Workday Studio
  • EIB
  • Core Connectors
  • REST/SOAP integrations
• Experience architecting complex Workday integrations with enterprise applications.
• Experience with PeopleSoft-to-Workday data migration/conversion.
• Strong understanding of coexistence architecture during phased Workday transformations.
• Workday Pro certification in a relevant area such as HCM, Integrations, Financials, or equivalent.
• Ability to work onsite in Columbus, Ohio for the duration of the engagement.
