Role Overview

We are seeking a Structural Engineer 3 to support the Mechanical and Energetics department. In this role, you will join a dynamic team performing structural analysis on launch vehicles and missiles. This position is located on-site in Chandler, AZ.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs structural analysis on launch vehicle and ground support components.
  • Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
  • Utilizes specific structural engineering specialties which may include dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, and thermal analysis.
  • Works with tools including NX CAD software and FEA.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experience is required.

Experience: A strong structural analysis background with demonstrated work experience and knowledge is necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain an active DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the program.


Technical Skills: The position requires experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and structural analysis. The ability to read engineering drawings and specifications is also required. Proficiency with standard word processing and spreadsheet software is expected. You must possess the ability to listen effectively, take direction, and have the initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • MS, or PhD in a related field.
  • Experience working with high performance flight structures.
  • Experience with FEMAP, NX NASTRAN finite element analysis software.
  • Experience with ANSYS, ABAQUS, and other software packages is also considered.
  • Research and experience working with high temperatures and their effects in structural mechanics.
  • Experience with thermal loading, advanced high temperature materials, structural responses, and development testing.
  • A working knowledge of CMC material systems.
  • Experience with scripting and AI use in fields of engineering and data sciences.
  • Nonlinear analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
