Job Summary

Client is a multiunit optometry company based in VA, with offices throughout the eastern U.S. is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented IT Implementation Engineer to join as part of our fast-paced IT Implementation team. This critical role focuses on ensuring seamless IT operations and driving IT special projects, supporting both our growing network of optometry practices and our home office initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT project management, vendor coordination, and technical implementation within the optometry healthcare sector. The IT Implementation Engineer possesses exceptional problem-solving abilities, effective written and oral communication skills, is capable of promptly resolving technical problems, and can coordinate the effort of the support team in incident response when necessary. Overall, the IT Implementation Engineer contributes to the technological efficiency of operations within the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage IT projects related to Acquisitions, De Novos (Greenfields), Relocations, Mergers and Home Office initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and tasks.
  • Sustain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Create comprehensive scopes of work for IT projects, outlining project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and approve scopes of work, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess IT infrastructure and equipment needs.
  • Design IT infrastructure layouts for new and existing locations.
  • Develop and implement Meraki network configurations for new offices.
  • Manage third-party vendors for the procurement, installation, and integration of IT equipment and services, including ISP circuits, VoIP phones, computers, network equipment and more.
  • Manage on-site technicians to ensure the quality and timeliness of installations and upgrades.
  • Oversee the setup and deployment of hardware and software.
  • Plan and execute network cabling and infrastructure installations.
  • Manage network migrations and software integrations, including EHR/POS legacy systems.
  • Integrate optometry-specific devices and software, ensuring seamless operation with existing systems.
  • Conduct thorough testing of all IT systems to ensure functionality and reliability.

Work Experience

4 or more years of IT support training or on-the-job experience in a help-desk or computer support environment.

Experience serving as a level 2 or higher technician in a similarly complex IT environment is preferred.

Education

An associate or bachelor degree in a computer related field is preferred.

Credentials (if required)

Desktop training certification from Microsoft (MCDST or MCITP), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network +, CompTIA Security +, HDI-DST)

Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Proficiency with project management software such as Smartsheet.
  • Experience with network infrastructure design and implementation, including Meraki.
  • Strong understanding of optometry medical device integrations and related technologies.
  • Excellent critical thinking and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Windows PC hardware and software.
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases and remote control.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve moderately complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of attention to details.
  • Success working within an office environment, collaborative working with a broad spectrum of internal customers.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered.
