Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision, performs systems analysis, assists in the preparation and conduct of administrative and procedural studies, assists in the preparation of industrial engineering studies, makes reports and evaluations, coordinates specific activities and projects.

Examples of Typical Tasks:
1. Studies and analyzes existing systems and methods employed in operations and administration.
2. Makes recommendations regarding improvements for quality, increased efficiency and productivity and cost reduction.
3. Establishes performance standards for purposes of increasing productivity and more effective scheduling and utilization of manpower and skill effectiveness.
4. Collects management information, data and other related documents, analyzes data, establishes relationships and prepares recommendations.
5. Participates in implementation of programs incorporating changes in methods, systems, procedures and forms design.
6. Participates in monitoring standards of performance, quality controls and progress of assigned projects.
7. Assists in determination of operational methods and procedures to permit data processing and automated equipment applications.
8. Prepares and modifies standard operating procedures and manuals for the implementation of systems and subsystems.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems, Industrial Management, Business Administration or related fields; or,
2. Two years of technical training or education beyond the High School level, with a minimum of two years of full-time, paid experience in the field of industrial engineering, systems analysis, methods and procedures, work simplification, cost reductions, EDP data processing applications, forms designs and control; or,
3. A satisfactory combination of the above.

Department Preferences

Position Summary

Under supervision, the Assistant Systems Analyst serves as the technical administrator for Hospital Police Access Control and Employee Identification Systems across the hospital campus and affiliated locations. Acting as the primary liaison between Hospital Police, Human Resources, and security vendors, this role ensures system functionality, supports upgrades, troubleshoots hardware/software, and coordinates preventive maintenance. (HR retains operational responsibility for badge issuance and access authorization.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • System Administration & Maintenance: Maintain electronic access control and employee ID systems, databases, configuration settings, user permissions, and associated data processing applications to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Act as the primary technical resource to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues with badge readers, door scanners, access control panels, and related equipment.
  • Vendor & Interdepartmental Coordination: Partner with IT, Facilities, HR, and contracted vendors to coordinate installations, repairs, preventive maintenance, and service agreement compliance.
  • System Improvements & Implementations: Evaluate workflows to recommend technology and automation enhancements; assist with system testing, upgrades, software releases, and security technology rollouts.
  • Reporting & Data Analysis: Generate and analyze audit trails, badge activity, door access transactions, and system utilization reports to support investigations, audits, management requests, and operational decisions.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Help draft and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and incident/resolution logs.
  • Special Projects: Perform related duties and special security technology assignments as directed.
