Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a SQL Database Consultant on behalf of our client in Brooklyn, NY. This role focuses on leading database migration, modernization, and performance optimization efforts within SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in large-scale database migrations, high availability configurations, and post-migration support in enterprise settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead migration of databases from SQL Server 2016/2019 to SQL Server 2022

  • Configure databases to ensure data integrity during migration (e.g., read-only setup, backups, and restoration)

  • Manage and configure user accounts, permissions, SQL jobs, SSIS packages, and linked servers

  • Migrate and validate SSRS reports and subscriptions in the upgraded environment

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to update data sources, jobs, and application compatibility

  • Implement and support Always On High Availability and clustering solutions

  • Perform database performance tuning, including indexing and query optimization

  • Provide post-migration (Hypercare) support and resolve user issues

  • Monitor database systems and ensure optimal performance and reliability

  • Track project progress, provide status updates, and manage scope changes

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with SQL Server database migration and administration

  • 4+ years of experience with Always On High Availability and clustering

  • 4+ years of experience with SSRS or similar reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)

  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis and data warehousing concepts (star/snowflake schemas)

  • 2+ years of experience with database performance monitoring tools (e.g., Redgate)

  • Strong experience with SSIS, SQL job scheduling, and linked servers

  • Proven ability to support enterprise-level database environments and migrations

  • Strong communication skills with experience in project reporting and stakeholder coordination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

  • Knowledge of SAN performance tuning and storage optimization

  • Experience working in large-scale or public sector environments
