Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Software Development Manager at Hologic. Inc in Marlborough, Massachusetts will lead a software development team in their day-to-day development activities, provide project planning, scheduling, and tracking, help drive functional excellence in project execution, analyze tests results and work with Developers and Engineers to perform bug fixes. Provide technical assistance to improve system performance, capacity, reliability, and scalability. Proactively manage project quality, risks, and issues. Own and manage execution against an aggressive but achievable project plan, provide project-related work direction to team members, work with peer project managers and cross functional program team members to monitor dependencies and ensure that critical program milestones and deliverables are met.

(PROCESS)

Oversee system performance lifecycle and identify key metrics for performance improvements. Evaluate system performances and recommend improvements. Generate periodic performance reports for management review. Participate in software development strategy and execution. Contribute to advancement of software organization by driving ideas for process improvement in project planning, project management and the overall product development process.

(MANAGEMENT)

Provide software team members with a clear vision and purpose for projects. Create a positive tone and morale for the team. Motivate team members and build project team identity and cohesion. Ensure cross-discipline coordination and communication. Provide input for setting team member's performance objectives and provide feedback to direct reports about performance against project deliverables and core competencies. Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members as appropriate. Work on cross-functional teams of Electrical, Software, Systems, Design Assurance, and Mechanical Engineers. Collaborate with Project Managers to provide direction, make technical decisions and to develop project time and cost estimates.

(ENGINEERING TOOLS)

Use programming languages and tools including C/C++, compilers, build management software, debugging and source control tools.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications

Education:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related field plus 8 years of software development experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of experience with the following:
  • Designing Software Products in a Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulated industry following IEC 62304 and ISO 14971 standards.
  • Experience with Product launches and Post-launch Maintenance with embedded software using C/C++.
  • Performing design input, design output, traceability, and risk analysis.
  • Utilizing Agile methodology for Software Development.
  • Experience with development of complex electromechanical system.
  • Experience using Software Version Control tool like Azure/Git/Perforce, Requirement management tools like Cockpit/Helix/DOORS.
  • Experience with unit testing tool Parasoft/Google test.
  • Experience with automating software testing at system and integration level

The annualized base salary range for this role is $122,00 - $203,300 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
