Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong hands-on experience in mainframe application development, maintenance, and production support. The ideal candidate should have expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and mainframe batch processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and DB2.

  • Develop and maintain batch jobs, online programs, and transaction-processing systems.

  • Work with CICS for online transaction processing and application integration.

  • Write and optimize DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and database operations.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and code reviews.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.

  • Monitor batch job execution, resolve job failures, and optimize performance.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and technical teams throughout the SDLC.

  • Prepare technical documentation and follow coding standards and change management procedures.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in mainframe development.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.

  • Experience with VSAM datasets and mainframe file processing.

  • Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating systems and TSO/ISPF.

  • Experience with batch processing, job scheduling, debugging, and performance tuning.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Endevor, Changeman, or similar source code management tools.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working in Agile or traditional SDLC environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mainframe modernization or migration projects.

  • Knowledge of MQ, Rexx, Assembler, or scripting is an advantage.

  • Experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or other enterprise environments.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
