QA LEAD (Healthcare Payer)
Must work on HAWAII TIME ZONE | 7:00am to 4:00pm HST
Description
The Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance activities across the software development lifecycle. This role ensures that QA standards, processes and best practices are consistently applied. The QA Lead will also provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to QA team. This role will also act as a test manager for medium to large sized projects and will be responsible for test planning, scheduling, execution, and defect management.
a. Quality Assurance Governance & Oversight
Provide oversight of all software QA processes to ensure adherence to established QA methodologies, standards, and industry best practices.
Review project deliverables and test documentation to ensure quality and completeness.
Act as the primary QA authority for cross-functional teams and project stakeholders.
Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to QA Analysts and Testers.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing QA culture within the IT organization.
b. Test Management & Test Execution
Lead creation of test strategies, test plans, and test schedules for assigned projects and releases.
Coordinate and manage test activities across functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance test cycles.
Ensure traceability from user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria to test coverage and results.
Monitor progress of manual and automated test execution across all QA resources.
Identify risks, issues, and test environment constraints that may impact timelines or quality.
Ensure all test activities follow proper documentation, evidence capture, and sign-off processes.
Oversee the defect lifecycle, ensuring timely logging, triage, prioritization, and resolution.
Facilitate daily defect review meetings with development, product, and business teams.
Track and report defect trends, root causes, and quality metrics to leadership.
Coordinate with IT teams to ensure test environments are properly configured and stable.
Oversee preparation and maintenance of test data sets and data refresh cycles.
Provide regular status updates on test progress, risks, metrics, and achievement of quality goals.
Recommend process improvements to enhance test efficiency, automation adoption, and overall quality.
Support retrospectives and post-release reviews to identify quality improvements and lessons learned.
c. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Participate in Agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum -
Bachelor's degree in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience and cumulative 5+ years of QA/testing experience in software development environments.
* May substitute related technical/business work experience for education requirements
Preferred -
Healthcare experience
3+ years of QA leadership or management experience in Agile
Minimum -
Experience writing test plans and test cases for software development efforts
Experience creating requirements traceability matrices
Experience of executing manual or automated, functional or technical test cases
Experience with QA/test tools such as ALM and automation
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across concurrent projects.
Preferred -
Business knowledge of the healthcare industry coupled with software quality assurance experience
Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards.
Experience with test automation tools

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $66.66/hr.
