Entity: Corporate ServicesDepartment: IS Core Infrastructure Location: 3535 Market Street/hybridSummary:The Senior Disaster Recovery Engineer advances the technical dimensions of Penn Medicine's disaster recovery program by leading assessments of data center infrastructure and application recovery requirements, driving the buildout of recovery infrastructure, producing recovery documentation, and planning and executing disaster recovery exercises.
Working in coordination with senior team members, this role partners with application owners, IT infrastructure, and operational teams to identify and remediate gaps and ensure disaster recovery plans remain current and aligned with business priorities.
Responsibilities:- PLAN:
- Work with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to analyze requirements and design technical solutions to meet various healthcare and research community needs.
- Conduct advanced research on new technologies and techniques, providing recommendations and roadmaps for implementation.
- DECIDE:
- Recommend appropriate technologies for the technology domain(s) within the scope of responsibility.
- DELIVER:
- Prepare regular reports and updates on DR initiatives for presentation to IS leadership and other stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in BCP and DR domains.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance the organization's security posture.
- Partner with IT to confirm and enhance technology recovery capability that aligns business demand, best practices, and regulatory guidance. Identify opportunities for strategic improvements that reduce the likelihood of technology interruptions.
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
- Provide on-call and after-hours support to address incidents, maintain infrastructure and support operational efforts.
- Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
- COLLABORATE:
- Work closely with architects and stakeholders to ensure that DR initiatives are successfully implemented.
- Work closely with network, security, development, application, and support teams in the implementation of DR components that support emerging technologies and applications.
- Mentor/develop more junior level infrastructure engineers.
- CONSULT:
- Serves as liaison between IT operations, cybersecurity and architecture teams.
- Escalation point for infrastructure and operations teams.
- Review proposed designs/architectures, identifying risks and providing remediation recommendations in line with established standards and the enterprise's overall architecture.
- Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Education or Equivalent Experience:- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 5+ years of Information Technology Experience is required.
- 3+ years of Disaster Recovery Experience is required.
- ABCP, CBCP or equivalent is preferred.
