Our client is seeking to hire a Senior Business Analyst to join a collaborative Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) team. The Senior BA will support established MMIS functional areas, working on the development, testing, and implementation of projects and enhancements aligned with the organization's healthcare program objectives-particularly initiatives supporting the member community.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in health plan operations, claims, business processes, and the systems development lifecycle. Preference will be given to candidates with Medicaid systems experience and strong business knowledge of Medicaid program operations.
The BA must possess a broad understanding of healthcare business workflows to ensure development and testing activities align with MMIS functionality and applicable regulations. This role will participate in all phases of projects, including gap analysis, requirements gathering, design, documentation, testing, implementation, and stabilization. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential, as the BA will collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders.
This position follows a hybrid model combining in-office and remote work, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Detailed List of Job Duties and Responsibilities- Lead and participate in joint application design (JAD) sessions with stakeholders
- Apply knowledge of SDLC and Agile methodologies (Agile experience a plus)
- Develop test strategies, scenarios, and test cases based on documented requirements
- Execute and review test runs; provide sign-off on testing components
- Document and validate business requirements; support related testing activities
- Assist in developing end-user training materials and documentation
- Provide oversight during release stabilization, including monitoring system change execution and identifying fixes
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure clear definition and full testing of business requirements
- Communicate updates and system changes to impacted stakeholders
- Represent MMIS in business meetings as needed
- Support program staff, vendors, and stakeholders with MMIS-related questions
- Provide backup support to other business analysts as needed
- Perform data querying and analysis
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in business analysis across all stages of the systems project lifecycle
- Competency in HIPAA claims and payment transaction processing
- Strong data analysis skills; SQL proficiency required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to work independently and within project teams
- Highly analytical mindset with ability to document findings and recommend solutions
Education and Certifications- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, IT, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience in a healthcare administration environment
