Overview
First Citizens internship program provides an opportunity for associates to gain work experience by applying classroom knowledge and delivering tangible value to an organization. The Digital Design Intern will create design solutions and perform research for digital products, services, and channels. In addition, they will have an opportunity to collaborate with designers, product owners, product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to create usable features and products for First Citizens clients.
The Intern will be provided with the opportunity to contribute to UX design and research work across various projects within the team . They're encouraged to expand their knowledge and skills and take initiative to ensure thoughtful and intuitive experiences for customers.
Responsibilities
While a majority of the principal accountabilities are assigned by a direct manager, there is a determined effort across the Bank to make each intern a dynamic part of the team with interesting projects. The successful candidate will participate in the following areas:
- Design Experience and Support (45%)
- Work with other team members to support the enhancement of the Bank's digital user experience by creating and iterating prototypes, visual designs, digital design assets, user journey maps, wireframes, etc. as assigned
- Ensure that digital products, services, and channels deliver an efficient, easy-to-use, accessible experience for clients
- Help understand and advocate for product design that supports the needs and behaviors of the target audience to the product team
- Develop an understanding of brand guidelines and apply visual elements and styles to user interfaces
- Assist in conducting user interviews or surveys
- Analyze research outcomes and help compile reports
- Use data to help draft user personas and scenarios to inform design decisions
- Perform competitive analysis to identify patterns and best practices
- Collaborate with other design team members to create assets as needed
- Work with enterprise design and product, technology, and QA stakeholders to measure product and team success
- Contribute to brand guidelines and standards for the enterprise design team

Qualifications
Required qualifications:* High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
* Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during the time of the summer program)
* Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program
Preferred qualifications:* 3.0 minimum GPA
* Strong desire to learn and grow
* Studing Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design or other relevant fields
* Some practical or internship experience using design tools ( Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Axure ) a nd relevant practical or internship experience in user research is desired
* Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Critical thinking skills
* Ability to multitask
* Ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs
* Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
* Self-starter, comfortable with asking questions and determining the best course of action

The base pay for this position is $18.70 - $28.60 per hour. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
